What we fix

Switch repairs we take on.

The Switch is a more specialised machine than the PS5 or Xbox and the repair volume is lower, so we're honest about what we do and don't take on. Here's what fits on our workbench.

🔌

Charging port replacement

Symptom: Switch won't charge, only charges at certain cable angles, or stops charging mid-play.

Cause: USB-C charging port on the Switch main board has cracked solder joints or internal pin damage. Usually caused by cable stress over time.

Fix: Port removed and replaced, same micro-soldering process as HDMI work. By arrangement — call to book so we order the right replacement.

Dock HDMI repair

Symptom: No picture on the TV when docked. Handheld mode still works fine.

Cause: HDMI port in the Switch dock has failed — the console itself is usually fine. We also diagnose dock PSU and internal board faults.

Fix: Dock HDMI port replacement by arrangement.

General fault diagnosis

Symptom: Switch won't turn on, won't boot, overheats, won't read game cards, screen issues, or any other fault you can describe.

Cause: Varies. We diagnose first and tell you before any work starts.

Fix: Depends entirely on the fault. Some are economical to repair, some aren't. No Fix No Fee — if it's not worth repairing, it goes home at no charge.

Why "by arrangement"

Because honest repair is better than rushed repair.

What "by arrangement" actually means

For PS5 and Xbox work we stock the common replacement parts on the shelf, so walk-in same-day repair is the default. For Switch work, the volume is lower and the models differ enough that we don't keep every part in stock permanently. So instead of taking your console in, finding we don't have the right part, and keeping it for a week while something gets ordered — we ask you to call first. A quick phone call means we can order the exact part for your exact model before you drop it off, and the repair actually happens when you bring it in.

It's a small extra step and it produces a much better outcome. Same prices, same quality, same engineer, same 6-month warranty. Just an honest heads-up before the repair instead of an unexpected delay after.

Joy-Con drift

Stick drift? We know who you need.

Joy-Con stick drift is the single most common Switch complaint and we get asked about it constantly. The honest answer: we don't do Joy-Con repairs of any kind. Controller work — stick drift, button failures, custom builds — needs a completely different skillset and equipment to console board work, and trying to do both badly helps nobody.

Joy-Con stick drift? Go to Nova.

For Joy-Con stick drift, custom controller builds, and all other controller work we recommend Nova Controllers Mods & Repairs in Liverpool. 5-star rated across 200+ Trustpilot reviews, lifetime warranty on their TMR stick upgrades, hand-built controllers that are genuinely better than stock. We send every controller job their way. No kickbacks — just a real recommendation because they do the job properly.

Switch FAQs

Questions we get asked about Switch repairs.

Do you repair Nintendo Switch consoles in Southport?

Yes — we repair all Nintendo Switch models including the original Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED. Switch repairs are done by arrangement rather than walk-in, so please call ahead on 07568 149550 to book the console in. This lets us order the right replacement parts before you drop it off.

How much does a Nintendo Switch charging port repair cost?

Charging port replacement is between £40 and £60 depending on the Switch model. This is the most common Switch repair we do — if your Switch won't charge, won't stay charged, or only charges at certain angles, the charging port is almost certainly the problem.

Why are Switch repairs done by arrangement instead of walk-in?

Switch repairs need specific parts that we don't keep in stock the way we do for PS5 and Xbox. Booking ahead lets us order the right replacement parts for your exact model so the repair actually gets done when you drop it off. It's a more honest approach than taking the console in, finding we don't have the part, and keeping it for a week.

Can you fix a Switch that won't read game cards?

Call to discuss — some cartridge slot failures are economical to fix, others aren't. We'll diagnose it first and let you know before any work starts. No Fix No Fee applies.

Do you offer a warranty on Switch repairs?

Yes — every Switch repair comes with a 6-month warranty covering the specific work carried out. Same warranty as our PS5 and Xbox repairs.

Do you fix Joy-Con stick drift?

No. We don't do Joy-Con or controller repairs of any kind. We refer all Joy-Con and controller work to Nova Controllers Mods & Repairs in Liverpool — they're a specialist shop and we trust their work.

Do you repair Switch OLED screens?

By arrangement — OLED screens are a specialist job and the parts need to be ordered in. Call ahead with the model and fault description and we'll let you know whether the repair is economical before you bring it in.
