PS5 HDMI port repair · by post · anywhere in the UK

PS5 HDMI port repair by post. £85 fixed, pay when it's fixed.

Post your PS5 to a real micro-soldering workshop in Southport. If it lands before 2pm it's fixed and tested the same day, and posted back as soon as you've paid, usually that same afternoon; later than 2pm, it's the next working day. The broken port comes off under a microscope, a brand new one goes on, and it's tested on a 4K display before it's boxed. £85 includes the Parcelforce next-day return postage. You pay nothing, not a deposit, not a penny, until the repair is done and working. Same engineer, same bench and same 6-month warranty as the people who walk in.

A damaged HDMI port on a PS5 main board, the fault most often sent to us by post
PS5 repairs by post

The PS5 faults we fix by post, and why they suit it.

Mail-in works when the fault is obvious and the fix is fixed-price. A PS5 with no picture, a PS5 that sounds like a jet, a PS5 that beeps three times and dies: we can quote those to the pound before your box arrives, so those are what we take by post. Nothing that needs a diagnosis first. Xbox Series X and S get the same two repairs; they're in the price table below.

🎮

PS5 HDMI port replacement, £85

Disc and digital editions. No picture, a flickering picture, or a port that only works at an angle. Old port off with hot air, pads cleaned under the microscope, brand new port soldered on, tested on a 4K display before it's boxed. The repair we do more than any other.

🌡️

PS5 deep clean and liquid metal, £75

Full strip, fan and heatsink cleaned out, fresh liquid metal on the APU. For a PS5 that roars, throttles or shuts down hot. £105 with the HDMI port done in the same visit, because it's only opened once.

🔊

PS5 three-beep fault, £75

Three beeps when the power lead goes in and nothing else: an error-log clear over UART. A quick fix once it's on the bench, and often the whole problem.

Not by post

No-power consoles, board-level faults, liquid damage, disc drives and Nintendo Switch. Those need a diagnosis first, and a diagnosis by post means your console sitting on a bench 200 miles away while we swap emails about it. If your console has one of those faults and you're within reach of Southport, bring it in. If it isn't, ring us before posting and we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth sending.

If a console arrives with a fault outside this list, you get a phone call, not a surprise bill. Go ahead if we can fix it, or it comes back to you for £15, which is the return postage at cost.

How we treat a posted console

On the bench, yours gets treated like it's ours.

We know what it's like handing a £400 console to a stranger two hundred miles away. So every console that comes through the post is worked on exactly as if it were our own: one engineer, one bench, no rushing, no "while we're in there" surprises, and it doesn't leave until it's been tested on a real display.

And you're never guessing where it is. Every mail-in repair gets its own private repair page, a link that's yours alone. It's updated at every step: the photo of your console as it came out of the box, the before and after photos of the repair, when it's paid, when it's dispatched and the tracking number. Open it whenever you like; no login, no app, no chasing us for an update. You'll get an email each time it moves as well.

Mail-in prices

Fixed prices. Return postage included. Nothing to pay until it's fixed.

Each mail-in price is the workshop price plus £25, and that £25 covers the Parcelforce express24 return postage, the extra cover to your console's value, and the box and packing it goes home in. There is no deposit and no payment up front: you pay by a link we email you once the repair is done and tested, and not before.

How it works

Seven steps, and you hear from us at every one.

1

Book it

Fill in the booking form below with your console, the fault and your details. You get a reference number and a packing slip by email straight away.

2

Pack it

Console only, no controller, no cables, no discs. Original box if you have it, otherwise a sturdy box with padding on every side. Packing slip inside. Full guide below.

3

Post it

Parcelforce express24 or express48, or Royal Mail Special Delivery. Keep your receipt and tracking number. If we haven't got it within five days we email you to check it went.

4

We unbox it on camera

The day it lands you get an email with a photo of your console as it came out of the box, its serial number, and the fault confirmed. Nothing gets opened before you've seen that.

5

We fix it the same day

In before 2pm, it's on the bench that afternoon, tested on a real display, and boxed for the Parcelforce collection. Later than 2pm, it's the next working day. Before and after photos go on your private repair page. If we find anything else while it's open, you get a call before we touch it.

6

You pay

Only once it's repaired and tested. A secure payment link comes by email (it's a GoCardless link and shows Draxiq, Graham Kennedy's web design business, as the payee). Pay by the time the Parcelforce collection comes and it goes that same day. No deposit, no payment up front.

7

It comes home

Parcelforce express24, tracking number emailed the moment it's dispatched. Pay before the afternoon collection and it goes the same day it arrived. Your 6-month warranty starts the day it's delivered.

Posting a console

Use a service that will actually pay out on a console.

This is the bit most mail-in pages skip. Most cheap parcel services exclude games consoles from their compensation, so if the driver drops it, you get nothing. Two services cover a console properly, and they're the two we recommend:

📦

Parcelforce express24 or express48

What we use to send it back. Next day or two days, tracked, £150 cover included and more available at the counter. Book online for the cheaper rate, drop it at any Post Office.

✉️

Royal Mail Special Delivery

Guaranteed next day by 1pm, tracked and signed for, cover up to £750 as standard. Slightly dearer for a PS5-sized box, and just as safe.

🚫

Not Evri, not a marketplace courier

Evri lists games consoles among the items it won't compensate. The cheap comparison-site couriers mostly do the same. If it goes missing on the way to us, the claim is between you and your carrier, so choose one that pays.

Packing it

  • Console only. No controller, no cables, no discs, no stand. We have all of those on the bench and anything extra is one more thing to lose.
  • Take the disc out. Eject it before you pack. A disc left in a PS5 in transit can scratch, and we'd rather not be the ones who found it.
  • Original box if you have it, inside a second outer box. If not, a box with at least 5cm of padding on every side: bubble wrap, scrunched paper, anything that stops it moving when you shake the box.
  • Packing slip inside the box, on top of the console. It's the PDF we email when you book, with your reference and a QR code. No slip means we ring round to find out whose it is.
  • Address it to: Games Console Repair Southport, 178 Gravel Lane, Southport PR9 8BX. Write your reference number on the outside as well.
  • Keep your posting receipt until the console is back with you.

★★★★★

"Bought my PS5 to have a new HDMI port replaced. While they were doing that they sent me pictures of the liquid metal on the main chip that had bald spots on it. So for a small extra fee they sorted those problems as well. All of this within three hours."

"Fantastic service from Graham. He got us in for repair of my son's PlayStation 5 straight away and it was fixed super fast. After looking at photos of before and after, it seemed in quite bad condition internally. Working perfectly again."

"HDMI port on our Xbox Series S was damaged, I rang around a few places and got quoted £80+ with a waiting time of several days. For £50 and same day repair I had an Xbox that finally worked again. He's very detail oriented and does a cracking job."

Warranty

Six months, the same as a walk-in. Here's why it isn't two years.

Some mail-in repairers advertise two-year warranties on an HDMI port. Our customers have told us those offers look desperate, and we agree. A port replacement done properly either works from day one or fails in the first few weeks, and six months covers that with room to spare. It's the same warranty every console that leaves this bench gets, posted or not.

If a repair we've done fails within six months, you post it back to us at our cost (we email you a prepaid Parcelforce label), we put it right, and we post it back. The warranty covers the repair we carried out, not new damage and not a different fault. The mail-in terms say exactly what's in and out.

PS5 mail-in FAQs

Questions people ask before they post a PS5.

How much does PS5 HDMI port repair cost in the UK?

£85 by post, with the Parcelforce next-day return postage included, or £60 if you bring it to the workshop in Southport. Fixed, no quote forms, and nothing to pay until it's repaired and tested. Most mail-in repairers charge £70 to £100 for the same job and then add the return postage on top.

How long will I be without my PS5?

Usually two to three days door to door: a day to reach us, fixed and tested the same day if it lands before 2pm (the next working day if not), posted back the same day you pay if that's before the Parcelforce collection, and a day in transit. We email at every step so you always know where it is.

Do I pay before I post it?

No. Nothing is paid until the repair is done and tested. You get a payment link by email, and the console goes out with the same day's Parcelforce collection if you pay in time, otherwise the next working day.

What if it turns out to be something else?

You get a phone call before we do anything. If it's a fault we can fix and you want it fixing, we agree the price on the call. If not, it comes back to you for £15, which is the return postage at cost. There's no inspection fee.

Is my data safe?

We don't need your account, your password or your games, and we don't sign in to anything. An HDMI or clean job never touches the storage. We'd still recommend backing up before you post it, as you would before any repair; a factory reset isn't needed.

What if it gets damaged in the post?

On the way back it's covered: we send Parcelforce express24 with the cover topped up to your console's value, and any claim is ours to make. On the way to us the contract is between you and your carrier, which is why the page is so insistent about using Parcelforce or Special Delivery and not Evri.

Do you do Nintendo Switch by post?

Not yet. Switch faults are too varied to fix-price without seeing the console, and the ones we do in the workshop are by arrangement. PS5 and Xbox Series only for now.

Can I cancel after I've booked?

Yes. You have 14 days from booking to cancel for any reason. If you ask us to start the repair inside those 14 days and we complete it, you'll owe the price of the repair. Full details and a cancellation form are in the terms.
